Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how SnapNinja ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, the SnapNinja cloud service, and our legacy desktop application (together, the "Service").

SnapNinja works by connecting to your Snapchat account at your direction and on your behalf. That means we handle sensitive information — including your Snapchat sign-in credentials and copies of media from your account. This policy explains exactly what we hold, how it is protected, and when it is deleted. We have tried to write it plainly; if anything is unclear, email us at support@snapninja.app.

By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address, your name, and a Google account identifier. We never see your Google password.

  • Snapchat Credentials: To connect your Snapchat account, you enter your Snapchat username and password on our site. These are handled as follows:

    • Your credentials are encrypted in your browser — using hybrid public-key encryption (RSA-OAEP with AES-256-GCM) — before they are transmitted to us. They never travel or sit in storage as plain text.
    • The encrypted credentials can be decrypted only by our capture servers, which do so in memory only, solely to sign in to Snapchat on your behalf.
    • The encrypted credential envelope is automatically deleted within 15 minutes of submission, and immediately when you disconnect your Snapchat account.
    • We never sell, share, or use your Snapchat credentials for any purpose other than connecting your account at your direction.
  • Snapchat Session Data: After connecting, we store the session tokens needed to keep your Snapchat connection alive (so you don't have to re-enter your password for every sync). These tokens are stored encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and are deleted when you disconnect your Snapchat account.

  • Payment Information: All payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We store your subscription status, billing history (dates and amounts), trial status, save allowance and usage, and any credit-pack balance — the records needed to run your account and provide support.

2. Content We Store For You

SnapNinja's purpose is saving media from your Snapchat account, so we necessarily store content on your behalf:

  • Saved Media: Photos and videos you choose to save are stored in encrypted cloud storage and shown only in your private gallery. They are not public, not shared with other users, and not used by us for any purpose other than providing your gallery.

  • Media Metadata: To power your gallery, we store metadata about media discovered in your account — for example sender display names, timestamps, media type and size, and a content fingerprint used to prevent duplicate saves.

  • Other People's Content: Media sent to you by friends is, in most cases, content your friends created. You decide what gets saved; we act on your instructions. You are responsible for saving only content you have the right to save — see our Terms of Service and DMCA Policy.

We do not browse, review, or analyze the content of your saved media except as required to operate the Service (for example, automated processing to store and display files), to respond to a verified legal request, or to enforce our zero-tolerance rules on illegal content.

3. Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Analytics: We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used (pages visited, features used, general interaction patterns). After you sign in, analytics are associated with your account (email and name) so we can debug problems and improve the product.

  • Device & Log Data: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and standard server logs.

  • Cookies: We use cookies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate checkout, plus analytics cookies as described above.

4. The Legacy Desktop Application

If you use our legacy desktop application (available to existing license holders):

  • Media captured by the desktop app is saved locally to your computer. The desktop app does not upload your media to our servers.
  • The desktop app does not collect or transmit your Snapchat username, password, or session tokens to us. Those remain in the local Chrome browser you control.
  • The desktop app communicates with our servers only to authenticate your SnapNinja account, check for updates, and track save counts for quota purposes.

Note that the cloud service works differently — as described in Sections 1 and 2 — because it saves media for you in the cloud rather than on your machine.

5. How We Use Your Information

  1. Providing the Service: Connecting your Snapchat account at your direction, syncing and saving media to your gallery, and managing your subscription, allowance, and credits.
  2. Account & Billing: Processing payments via Stripe, managing trials and renewals, and handling support requests.
  3. Service Communications: Transactional emails about your account and billing (for example trial reminders or payment failures), and product emails you can unsubscribe from at any time via the link in every such email.
  4. Service Improvement: Understanding aggregate usage to improve the product.
  5. Safety & Legal Compliance: Enforcing our Terms, preventing abuse, and complying with applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your saved media to train AI models or for advertising.

6. Service Providers

We share data only with the providers needed to run the Service, and only to the extent needed for them to do their job:

  • Stripe — payment processing (privacy policy)
  • Convex — database, backend, and encrypted file storage hosting
  • Google — sign-in (OAuth)
  • Resend — email delivery
  • PostHog — product analytics (privacy policy)
  • Network infrastructure providers — our capture servers connect to Snapchat through dedicated network proxies assigned to your session. No personal data is shared with proxy providers; your traffic to Snapchat passes through this infrastructure as part of how the Service operates.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of SnapNinja, our users, or others.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Snapchat credentials: deleted automatically within 15 minutes of submission, and on disconnect.
  • Snapchat session tokens: deleted when you disconnect your Snapchat account (you can disconnect at any time from your account page).
  • Saved media and gallery data: retained while your account is active so your gallery keeps working — including if you disconnect Snapchat or your subscription lapses. You can request deletion of some or all of your saved media, or your entire account, at any time (see Section 8).
  • Account and billing records: billing history is retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance. Other account data is deleted upon account deletion.

8. Your Rights & Choices

  • Disconnect Snapchat: Any time, from your account page. This deletes your stored Snapchat session and any credential envelopes immediately.
  • Cancel your subscription: Any time, via your account page. Access continues until the end of your billing period.
  • Unsubscribe from product emails: Every non-essential email contains an unsubscribe link. (We may still send transactional emails about your account or billing.)
  • Access, correction, deletion: Email support@snapninja.app to request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your saved media and/or your entire account. We honor verified requests within 30 days.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. To exercise your rights, email support@snapninja.app.

EEA / UK Residents

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of contract performance (providing the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service), and consent (where required, e.g., for non-essential communications). You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — email support@snapninja.app to exercise them. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Security

Sensitive data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Snapchat credentials are additionally encrypted end-to-end in your browser as described in Section 1 — designed so that even our own database, in isolation, cannot reveal them. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but protecting this data is the core engineering priority of the Service.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to purchase a subscription. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and update the date above. For material changes that affect how we handle your Snapchat credentials or saved media, we will also notify active users by email.
