Snaptroid doesn't work.
Here is what does.
Snaptroid promises someone's private Snapchat data from just a username. It never delivers, because nothing can. Here is what it actually does to you, and the tools that genuinely work.
The short version
Snaptroid is not a Snapchat viewer. It is a survey wall. You type in a username, watch a fake progress bar, and then hit a "human verification" step that asks you to install apps or fill out offers. That step is where it ends. Nobody has ever gotten past it, because there is nothing behind it. The site earns a commission on every offer you complete, which is the whole business.
If you searched for a Snaptroid alternative, you probably wanted one of two things. Either you want to look at someone's story without them knowing, or you want to keep the snaps people send you without the screenshot alert. Both are possible. Neither requires anything shady. The rest of this page covers what Snaptroid actually does, why its promises are impossible, and what to use instead.
What Snaptroid claims to do
The pitch is the same across every version and every domain. Enter any Snapchat username and Snaptroid will supposedly show you:
- Their full chat history and message logs
- Their best friends list
- Photos inside their My Eyes Only folder
- Their Snap Score and "hidden" stats
- Private stories and expired snaps
Every item on that list is private to the account owner. Snapchat does not publish any of it, not even to friends, and My Eyes Only is locked with a passcode that Snapchat itself cannot recover. There is no API, leak, or trick that turns a username into someone's DMs. When a site claims otherwise, it is telling you what you want to hear so you keep clicking.
What actually happens when you use it
Security researchers at Certo, Clario, and MalwareTips have each walked through it, and the pattern is identical on every Snaptroid site, including the ones calling themselves Snaptroid 2.0, Snaptroid 3.0, and "Snaptroid online":
- You enter a username. The page shows a loading animation with lines like "connecting to server" and "fetching data". None of this is real. The page is not talking to Snapchat.
- It pretends to succeed. You see blurred previews or a message saying the data is ready. The blur is not hiding anything. It is a placeholder image that looks the same for every username.
- The verification wall appears. To "unlock" the results you must prove you're human by installing two or three apps and running them for 30 seconds, or by entering your card for an unrelated subscription offer. The operators get paid for each one.
- Nothing unlocks. Finish the tasks and the page either reloads to another wall, tells you verification failed, or just sits there. The blurred data was a stock image.
Trustpilot reviews of snaptroid.vip describe the same experience, plus recurring charges from offers that never said up front what they would cost. This is not a tool with mixed reviews. It is a funnel with a Snapchat logo on it.
Why the version numbers keep changing
Snaptroid 2.0 lived on snaptroid.vip. Snaptroid 3.0 moved to snaptroid.co. There are also snaptroid APK sites, "Snaptroid online" sites, and a dozen lookalike domains with an extra letter in the name. The numbers suggest a product that gets updated. What is really happening is that browsers and security tools flag a domain, so the operators register a new one and call it the next version. The funnel behind it does not change.
The marketing lives on TikTok. Short videos, sometimes paid ads, show a phone "unlocking" someone's private snaps with Snaptroid. Those clips are edited or faked, and the accounts posting them are often part of the same affiliate network. If a TikTok tutorial promises a way to use Snaptroid without doing the tasks, it leads to another set of tasks.
Does Snaptroid notify the person?
This is one of the most searched questions about it, and the honest answer is a bit funny. No, Snaptroid does not notify the person, because Snaptroid never touches their account. It never touches Snapchat at all. The only person who has any contact with Snaptroid is you, through the offers you complete and whatever personal information you type into the forms.
What you can actually do instead
Strip away the impossible parts of the Snaptroid pitch and two real needs are left. Here is how to handle each one for free, without surveys, using tools that connect to Snapchat for real.
1. Watch someone's story without showing up in their viewer list
If their story is public, you do not need their permission or any trickery. SnapNinja's free public profile pages read the same public web data Snapchat serves to anyone, so you can watch a public account's stories, highlights, and Spotlight posts in your browser. There is no login, so there is no viewer entry with your name on it. Every public profile has its own page at snapninja.app/snapchat/ followed by the username. Open one from the celebrities directory to see how it works, then swap in any public username.
If their story is private (friends only), no tool on earth can show it to you anonymously. Anyone who says otherwise is running the Snaptroid play under a different name.
2. Keep the snaps and chats friends send you, without the alert
Screenshots and screen recordings trigger a notification to the sender. SnapNinja avoids both. You connect your own Snapchat account, and SnapNinja signs in on your behalf and saves the incoming snaps and chats you pick into a private cloud gallery. No screenshot happens on any device, so no alert is sent. You get the original file, on your phone or computer. Details on how the saving works are on our save without notification page.
Connecting your account and seeing your inbox are free. Saving private snaps is a paid subscription, and the checkout page shows the price ($29.99/month or $199/year) before you enter a card. You can cancel from your account page at any time.
This is your account and your conversations. It is not a way into someone else's. That limit is the difference between a tool that works and a tool that only exists in a TikTok ad.
3. Check what is actually public about a profile
Snapchat does expose some things publicly for accounts with a public profile: display name, profile picture, subscriber count, public stories, and Spotlight. Our public profile guide explains what shows up and what stays hidden. Snap Score is not on the public list. You can only see it for your friends inside the app, which is why every "Snap Score checker" is fake. More on that in the Snap Score guide.

If you already used Snaptroid
Nothing catastrophic happened, but do a quick cleanup:
- Uninstall any app you added during the verification step. Check your App Store or Google Play subscriptions and cancel anything you don't recognize.
- If you typed your Snapchat password anywhere on a Snaptroid site, change it now and turn on two-factor authentication in Snapchat's settings.
- If you installed an APK on Android, delete it and run a scan with the built-in Play Protect.
- If you entered card details for one of the verification offers, watch the statement for a few weeks and dispute anything unexpected.
Then, if you still want to see a public story without being seen, use the public profile pages. It takes about five seconds and does not ask you to install anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
There is a real website (several, actually), but the tool it advertises is not real. Snaptroid claims to show private Snapchat data from a username alone, which is not technically possible. Every version, including Snaptroid 2.0, 3.0, and "Snaptroid online", ends at a human verification wall that asks you to install apps or complete surveys. Nothing is shown afterward.
It is a scam. Security companies including Certo, Clario, and MalwareTips have all documented it as a survey-wall funnel, and Trustpilot reviews describe unexpected charges and fake results. The operators earn money when you complete the "verification" offers. You are the product, not the user.
No, but not because it is stealthy. Snaptroid never connects to Snapchat at all, so it cannot notify anyone. The only person affected is you, through the offers you complete and the personal data you type in.
No. The version numbers are marketing. Snaptroid 2.0 and Snaptroid 3.0 are the same survey funnel hosted on different domains. When one domain gets flagged, a new "version" appears on a new one.
You can't. The tasks are the entire product. There is no tool waiting behind the verification wall, so skipping the tasks would reveal an empty page. Any tutorial promising a bypass is either another affiliate funnel or a malware download.
No. My Eyes Only is encrypted with a PIN that only the account owner knows, and Snapchat does not expose best friends lists, chat history, or Snap Score for other people through any public interface. Any site claiming to reveal them is lying.
It depends on what you actually wanted. To watch someone's public story without appearing in their viewer list, use SnapNinja's free public profile pages, which need no login. To keep the snaps and chats friends send to you without a screenshot alert, connect your own account to SnapNinja and it saves them to a private cloud gallery. Both work today, without surveys.
No. On iPhone the verification step usually pushes you toward paid app installs or subscription offers. On Android some Snaptroid sites push an APK file, which can carry malware. If you already installed one, delete it, change your Snapchat password, and check your app store subscriptions for anything you don't recognize.
